Many are happy with this unit from ebay.
As for myself, I rather buy one from our host.
If your motor is a type 4 or early 6 cylinder I think any 4 / 5 arm will do. For turbos , 993 vram I would feel better if it were the 5 arm from our host. Just my .02

I bought one of these from eBay but have never used it and probably never will. If you are interested, PM me. $50 including shipping.

I have one. Looks well-made. Fits, but the arms aren't long enough to mount a Carrera engine with the clutch on. Kind of a pain to take the clutch off to do a valve job.

You have to take the internal oil cooler off before you attach it to the engine, it's a pain.
Spend the extra for the Porsche tool you'll be happier it holds the engine on the correct side and it's much stronger there's a lot of weight hanging off the tool. The cheaper type can distort the case. If you decide to sell it you can recover a good percentage of you investment back.

QSC makes a P201 that works well, and it's $50 cheaper than the SIR tools P201.

Wow! Big range of opinions. I sent a question to the eBay seller if I can install / remove the flywheel and I haven't heard back from him yet.

Since I've been using a p201 from our host, I can say it can hold the engine, oil cooler and clutch. It works as Porsche designed it to.

IMHO, get the right tool, even if it cost more. It makes life much simpler.

The subtle compromises of the non p201 tool add up and will irritate you when you have to pull the clutch and dump oil cooler oil just to hang the engine for some unrelated reason.

I have one. It won't attach to the case with the engine oil cooler in place on the oil-cooler side (as mentioned previously). I was able to install the flywheel and clutch but it was not easy. If I ever need to do this again, I intend to buy one of the better tools or modify this one so that it will fit with the oil cooler in place.

His photo shows the yoke mounted to the side of the engine opposite the cooler. Maybe you guys installed it wrong or it was different before?

Okay, so Wayne's book clearly states the yoke should be on the cooler side...

I see no weight distribution discrepancy.

I would pull the trigger.

These guys did not install it wrong. Just a clearance issue which I don't understand.

I bought the P201 from Engine Builder's Supply in 1997. $150-ish? The flywheel clamp did not fit correctly. Have yet to figure it out. Suspect the equipment is good but not the real deal? However, ignorance, even after 17 years of ownership, is very possible.

You will find ways around it.
