Backdate question - SC flares to narrow body flares

Hi,

I have another project car which I'd like to convert into a Pre 73 Hotrod.

Today it is a 81 SC with a Slantnose conversion .. Forget the front, but the rear is also converted into a Turbo width slantnose style car. Actually, the car came with correct SC flares which I have to weld onto it. Before I do it, I thought I might wanna check whether I could also use Pre 73 narrow body flares .. I guess they might fit - the other question is, whether or not the current SC oil tank will fit under the narrow body flares? Are those oil tanks different?

Thanks

You could use the flares from an earlier car, if you wanted. The oil tank should fit, although there were differences in the early and late oil tanks.

Most people like the wider flares of the Carrera and SC, plus they allow for more choices in wheels and tires, so think twice before going down that road.

I'd say the flare choice should take priority. You could always grab an early oil tank later if it doesn't fit. I would also counter what javadog said. Yes, the SC flare allow wider wheels, but a skinny rear end looks 100x better in my opinion.
