Post Cobra Attack Helicopter FS, ebay...what gives?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=595953616

Ad states:

"If you've always wanted to own your own attack helicopter, like a Cobra, then this is probably the only opportunity you'll ever have."

Wonders never cease to amaze me???

Yikes! You can bet that the CIA and FBI are watching this one whether the auction is for real or not. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they put this auction out there. They would be very interested in knowing who is looking at such a machine. Though the ad states that there are no functional weapons it would still be of military value if it has the same small arms and shrapnel resistance as they come with. Then there are the performance characteristics. Scary

And, "We reserve the right to buy the aircraft back after ninty days at the selling price"
Why would that be?

This really isn't that big a deal. There is a lot of ex military aircraft out there, primarily ex-eastern bloc stuff. I would bet that if someone really wanted a fully functional attack helo, they wouldn't look on ebay. Start sniffing around the former Soviet Union, that is where the bargains are.

Although a quick web search came up with a place in Kansas with a F-16C, F-18A, EF-111 A-7, A-8, A-4, and another AH1 for sale.

Hoot!..but seriously, there is a guy in Central Oregon who collects old fighter jets. Has several, all in flying condition. Think the latest is an F-4...it's legal, if you have the $ and the know-how.

Yeah, on the acft they pull all the stuff of any military value. I'd like to know where acft that are still used in the US military's inventory are coming from. They don't sell them when they are done. They send them to DM AFB and mothball them.
The helicopters are kind of scary compared to say an F-4. You can't do much from an F-4 except fly it into something. In a helo though you could hover over a target and fire an M-60 or hand-held rockets and with the bullet proof under panels on the acft being sold here you'd be at a slight advantage. Even if you know you'd eventually be taken out, you'd be able to stay up longer and complete more of your objective.
Very expensive toys though. Do you know how much it would cost to keep an acft like an F-4 going? There are literally hundreds of parts on modern war acft that cost $80K-$100K+ and they break often. Then there's all the specialized tools and finding someone that can work on the acft.
A P-51 Mustang is something I could handle though!

In the light of recent terrorist attacks and fear over bio. warfare, I do wonder if stuff like this should sold around. I know it's high, high end stuff but, as we know, money isn't a problem for terrorists organizations, it seems. Well, it saves people getting their weapons/aircraft in to the Country, just buy it on Ebay!
This could be the start of a pro/anti F4 and heavy artillery thread.
