Steering rack knock?
I have a 1970 911T. As the wheel is turned and passes the point of the wheels being straight ahead there is a slight knock noise, I can't see anything loose, feel where it's coming from. I thought it might be a tie rod but there is no play in the wheel. Universal joint looks ok. Where else to look, not sure? Cheers...

Check the struts in the strut housing..your collar(s) are probably loose.

Thanks I'll check them. I noticed the noise or knock is each time the wheel is turned in the opposite direction, so not really as it crosses the point of the wheels being parallel.

could also be one of the u-joints in the steering column. loosen them all up some to let them relax, move the steering wheel from side to side some then retighten. if that does not help loosen again and tap them lightly, and move the wheel a bit again. don't loosen them so much that them can skip a spline when tapping or moving the wheel.
