battery cable terminals

I was checking my battery cable for the first time since I bought the car a few months ago. I want to clean up the trunk in general and I noticed the PO installed probably new terminals, especially the one on the negative pole.

Do any of you have 2 big cables connected to the (-) negative pole?
on is the original short connected to the car body as for PET book diagram.

but I don't understand what the other cables does. I wonder if some SC has it? could it be installed to provide neg- pole to the AC?

I'll try my best to figure ou where it goes, but also I don't want to change what's working

A neg cable is a neg cable. Adding another does nothing - providing the first one was working. Maybe he had issues and thought it may fix it. It would only work if the first was faulty.
If it is earthed, it is earthed. End of story.
But there can be issues with the cable and the earth point over the years. The remedy is to fix those issues, not add another cable.

actually what I noticed is that one of the cable connected to the battery goes through a hole above the fender, and second connect to the body. probably the PO connected this main ground cable directly to the cable instead of its original position because they installed a bigger battery that probably was impeding the connection. my guess...

Now you need to find out where this second cable that goes through the grommet on your pic is going and to what it is connected. Never seen that before.

The other ground connected to body is the correct one.

What’s under the fender that would need supplemental ground? What and where is the end of that second cable grounded to? Someone took the time to drill a hole and insert a proper grommet so it must of have had a specific purpose.
Maybe car had an aftermarket AC condenser and a blower underneath? Any other contraptions maybe already removed, so look for old mountings.

i will try to discover where it goes... no reference on the PET book

I thought it was from factory given the hole and the plastic grommet seems legit
