Help!! I am having hell trying to drive out the gear pin to be able to remove the shaft. I filed down the peened end and am trying to knock out with a drift and hammer, it won't freeking budge.
Any ideas?? Cosmo |

an air hammer with a bit ground down to the proper size gets it moving. finished up with a hammer and punch. sorry, but shop tools make life a lot easier.

Take a piece of metal that is sized properly to act as a drive to push the pin out. Place a socket on the other side so that the pin, when driven out, goes into the socket. Place the socket, shaft and drive pin into a vise. Tighten the vise so that the drive pin drives the roll pin into the socket.
I did this to my distributor, for no reason. When I got the distributor apart, it was clean, lubed and tight. No need for new bushings or anything. I should have just left it alone.
