Need a shop rochester ny
I know there are not many pelicans in this area so this is a long shot but if anyone sees this can you recommend a good shop for vintage 911?
I have been using the one everyone recommends, including me, for almost 20 years. I don’t want to talk negative about them here…if your interested I am happy to discuss by PM How about The Little Speed Shop? Anyone else or is this the end of the line for pro service of these old cars around here…..I suspect it is unfortunately

What do you need done?
I don't have any personal experience with The Little Speed Shop, but I've seen them work on quite a few cars at The Glen. Maybe give them a call. They may have a recommendation. What about your PCA chapter? They should have a tech shop list. |

alignment and a few other things i need to discuss with a pro who knows these cars
i’m not a member of the local PCA but the shop i’ve been using is the one they and everyone recommends so…not sure i’ll get anywhere looking into that but i’ll see i’m guessing The Little Speed Shop Watkins Glen location knows these cars better than the one here but who knows. i guess i’ve lost my trust in anyone that says they know these cars |

Its haul from Roc, though may be worth it for the right kind of service. I'm helping my Dad bring a car to Bavarian Rocket Science in Albany next week for the first time and will report back. Initial conversation went well enough to give them a shot, I recommend based research in this forum. All the usual suspects in CT near Lime Rock were booked through the fall and wouldn't take a car in for pre-Rennsport road trip service and inspection
R & D Automotive - The Bavarian Rocket Scientists, LLC There is no one in the Syracuse area that I know of. Cantech can certainly do an alignment and corner balance, they support or sponsor some amateur 911 cup car stuff I think ... though in my experience they particularly don't like DIY folks like us telling them anything, just want you to drop-off and then pay when they say "it's done". Not the kind of service I assume you are looking for, not the kind of service I'm looking for either ![]() Last edited by tk32; 08-17-2023 at 07:14 AM.. Reason: spelling and grammar .. |

Yea Albany is way too far to go but thanks. Good luck with them. As the years go buy and these cars get sold on BAT or wherever to some far off place, the demand for the air-cooled 911 mechanic around here dies. I think the vintage British car owners have more choices than we do, at least if I go by what I see at the MG Car Club shows and the amount of cars I see on the road. Used to be a time when I would see a few old 911s on the road or at shows and now I am typically the only one...

Is Joel Reiser still in the game? I believe he is close to Rochester

So seems everyone knows who is but apparently he doesn’t work on customer cars now. Too bad because he would be about 30 minutes from me at most
And his business website is dead

Sad part is these cars are pretty simple to work on

Bavarian Rocket Science in Albany:
The answer is yes. Rent a uhaul and throw the 911 on the back or employ the significant other, friend, or family member and make a weekend out of it, take the back roads, have fun. Heck, take the train ![]() |

Thanks. Have appointment with my usual shop for tomorrow to see if they can correct an issue
The problem with these indy shops is they are rarely open on Saturday. I’m not retired. I can’t just take a day off to drop a car off….we’ll, I can but my wife definitely can’t and I would prefer not to. It’s like scheduling a colonoscopy or something. No way in a thousand lifetimes I’m dealing with a shop almost 4 hours from me unless it’s an engine rebuild or something major….then the hassle might be worth it. Maybe. You’re in Syracuse and you take your car to Albany?
