Door Stay Removal problem

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me with removing my old door stay. The door door jam side of the door stay has what looks like a female threaded rivet. It has three holes on the outside almost like a special tool is used to remove it. I don't think it's after market because from inside the door, the stay looks exactly like the picture in the 101 project book.

looks like fix kit was installed...also i see threads on the inside so try needle nose pliers and unscrew the caps - by using those 3 holes.
BTW why do you want to remove it?

If they’re too tight for needle nose use a small punch or nail set and tap at an angle.

That’s a brad T-nut.
Probably a lot of torque needed to remove so the long narrow punch method may be best.
But did you try snap clip pliers or more specifically pin spanners?

Take a pic of the inside of YOUR door. Are there bolts installed from the inside?

Wow, blown away by the response by this community. First 911, can’t believe the quick responses, thank you. I did get some snap ring spanners so I will be jumping on that this weekend. John walker the inside door pic should be there, it looks like the OE door stop. Built in studs, no bolts.

EC900, right on it looks exactly like a brad t-nut, lol whatever that is. Spent all day yesterday trying to find out what that was, amazing thanks. Now maybe I can search for others ways to remove it. I will be trying the spanners.

Just a thought, I suspect the door was ripped at the door stay and someone put in the reinforcement kit, but decided against using a new door stay. The studs built onto the OE door stay are short, not meant for the kit. I believe the installer used the brad T-nut to reach into the hole to reach the stay studs in order to tighten. Nuts would not have worked.
