I bought my 89 3.2 in Denver about a year and a half ago and asked the same question. I was recommended to Storz Garage in Denver and was really happy with them. They are a pretty well respected air-cooled shop in Denver and did a very thorough job. I'd highly recommend them.
Thanks and good luck!

Further north, I trust Chris @ SAS.

Is SAS part of Carquip? I have to check them out as I know Tom Conway.

I would also suggest Randy at Boulder Autowerks for a PPI, huge Porsche nut and cool guy to deal with all around.

Shared building yes, but I don't know how/if the two are connected.

I forgot to mention Poudre, they just conducted an excellent PPI on an in-law's C4S.

Chris used to work for Tom. As Tom has started towards retiring and selling his business he's not very interested in doing service work any more. Chris learned to rebuild Porsche gearboxes when at Carquip, but was already a general purpose mechanic with a number of years of experience when he was hired. He rents the shop next door, which used to be his service bay when he was employed by Tom. Tom still subcontracts some work out to him.

Storz Garage. They did the PPI for a 1985 I bought out of Denver a couple of years ago. Very thorough and reasonably priced. The owner, Bob is said to know everything there is to know about air-cooled porsches...That's all they work on.
1475 Vine Street in Denver. 303-333-1911.

I've been using Storz for 11 years and Bob and Mike are probably the most knowledgeable in the area, but they do work on watercooled cars (944s and 911s occasionally). And believe it or not, they also occasionally work on non-Porsches. They had an Audi on the lift one time I was there.
