Need help removing and replacing part on CIS
Hello! (Merry Christmas if you celebrate.)
I dropped my motor and saw a rubber mount with a stud on it that was tearing off. This stud/mount is located at bottom and front left (flywheel/driver side) of the CIS intake box. See picture below, circled in red. I cant figure out how to remove this. Do I need to remove the CIS intake to get this off? Or can I do it without removal? And is this the replacement part? If so, I imagine there is a nut on the other side. Any ideas on how I can remove this thing? Thanks, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1451099533.jpg |
There is a nut on the back holding it in place. It is in a slot from bottom up, so if you can turn the remaining rubber piece counter clockwise it may loosen up and be able to slide down and out.
Reach up inside the hole with a finger and you will feel the nut on the stud and likely the slot. (Man, I sure hope Ronnie doesn't read this...) And yes, that is the correct replacement rubber isolating mount. |

The stud is welded to a thin metal disc, just like the one on the side that's broken off. You might be able to pry up the edge of the disc slightly, grip it with vice-grips and unscrew it enough to allow the isolator to slide out.

Probably be able to get at the nut with a 13mm crowfoot on an extension. Might have to get that engine lift bracket out of the way.

I cut off the rubber bushing with a chisel and then drilled out the center of the rubber bushing through the stud holding the bushing to the CIS. Eventually the stud and nut just dropped out. This will be a pain to get back on but we'll see.
