Need a new interior. where to purchase?

Hi,

Looking to restore / replace my 1988 930 interior. Anyone know of a good place to have this done? I'm located in Massachusetts, but can ship the interior to a shop.

Thanks

Scott

I recently purchased a headliner, windshield and rear glass rubber gaskets, carpet kit, and door panels from our sponsor and sun visors from eBay Germany. I'm happy with the quality and my upholstery guy said it's the best he's seen.

buy from lakewell.com of Belgium....the best on the market with OEM material and colour. Really a professional outfit!

It will be also cheaper in comparison to US outfits.

For an 80's car I would recommend:
Classic 9 Leather Shop

Here is there web site.
Porsche Interior Restoration Leather Craftsman Classic 9 Leather

Another more traditional alternative is Autos International in California, or Tony at autobahn interiors in San Diego. These last two have a bit of a wait list. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three.

I had Tony at Autobahn rebuild a pair of '84 sport seats for me last spring, the workmanship was outstanding.

+1 for Classic 9 Leather shop. You'll get great communication and service from Bob. I just bought carpet, headliner, leather seat covers, and leather covered dash and other trim pieces. It all looks beautiful. Now I just have to install it all.

Bob is a good to deal with but I had a bad experience with them trying to convert my regular seats to sport seats. I was not happy with workmanship at all. Bob agreed with me and refunded my money back.

I haven't received any reply from emails or phone messages from Bob. I just slipped through the cracks for 9 months I suppose.

Here's what the fairly ratty cores I sent to Tony looked like when I got them back:

That is the ticket!

Looks as if those seats came right from the Porsche factory's upholsterer…perfect, Arne.

Just purchased Blackwatch tartan/leatherette covers made by Lakewell. Excellent quality and hundreds cheaper than Autos International quoted me. I'm installing them myself. Only takes a few hours to disassemble the seat, clean, lube the frame/tracks and install the new covers. Of course that's if your foam is in decent shape.

Almost. I had Tony substitute triple-stitched French seams for the piping on the bolsters, as in my experience piping on big-bolstered seats is the first place that shows wear. (See the middle picture above for detail.)

Not cheap, I'm way over my estimate on my interior refresh, but it is looking great so far.

I'm a little reluctant to quote prices for Tony, things may have changed in the past 9 months, and I don't have the itemized invoice handy. So I'd definitely recommend contacting them directly, don't take my word for it. Autobahn Interiors

But as I recall, last spring a complete refresh of a pair of non-power sport seats in leather was about $2400 or so. That includes foam repair/replacement, a small amount of seat frame repair and such. The triple-stitch seams was a bit extra. I had the rear seats done to match at the same time.

The seats were only the first step in my interior refresh. The trim panels are in progress now, almost all done on that too. These are custom work by Appbiz. Applied Business Concepts

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned GHAA ( GAHH: Convertible Tops, Auto Interiors, Quality Convertible Tops ) I have heard nothing but good about them.

I can also speak from first hand experience that Robert Budd at Classic9 does great work.
