Alternator question.

I need a new alternator, fan and housing for a spare engine I came into and there's one on eBay right now that doesn't sound quite right. Check out this part number and someone please tell me if it will fit a 3.2 Carrera engine. The seller doesn't know. If it's really from a 1969 911, wouldn't it have 5 blades? Seller says it's a 55A Bosch alternator. Please advise. Thanks.

Not sure if the housing will fit a Carrera, but 1969 engines had the 11 blade fan, but I think it is a different diameter than yours. I think the 74-76 engines had the 5 blade fan. For what it is worth I looked all over for a used fan housing for my '86 Carrera. Never found a good one. If you don't want to fork over the bucks for a new housing, I still have my old cracked one with a used (but working) alternator that I would be willing to sell you if you don't have any luck finding another one. Several guys on the board including, I think, Warren mentioned that the cracks could be welded up by a shop fairly inexpensively. However I do not have the fan. Just the housing and alternator.

Thanks Kurt. Here's another one where the seller doesn't know if it'll fit my car. Anyone else know?
