I can not stand the brake light in the rear winshield. I think I saw a 88 with an updated light across the top of the winshield on the outside. Has anyone done this? Was it difficult? Where do I get the parts? Thanks in advance.

I tried a quick google search and found these for motorcycles:
http://www.performancemotorcycleparts.com/accessories_pages/led_brake_tail_light_&_indicator_strips.htm Not exactly what you're looking for but they have interesting possibilities. There were a bunch of web sites with led brake lights in all shapes and sizes - most of which seemed to be a lot less intrusive than the standard Porsche rear window mount. Argo 88 Targa |

Are you looking for something like this...
...or something MUCH cheaper and perhaps not AS slick? |

That is exactly what I am looking for. Where do you get it and has anyone installed it? Is it hard? Thanks, with that I will be able to see out the rear window.

I believe that brake light assembly is off of a 993.
I want to get one to give idiots behind me something to stare at.

The 1987 cars had the rear brake light mounted at the bottom of the windshield. That might be an option.

Performance products has that 993 style light in its catalog. My brother is using this instead of the snorkle that came with it. Downside is it is very pricey!

There was a thread on this topic about 2 weeks ago, and one guy posted an extensive response - you might do a search.
I also HATE my 3rd brake light, so based on the above I ordered a small LED unit from J.C. Whitney (I know - YIKES!) but I haven't had time to install it yet. Go to their website, they have a bunch of them, this one is 3/4" X 3/4" X 4-3/4", 12 LEDs. It looks like it will fit nicely in the vent area at the back of the roof, and the wiring for the existing 3rd brake light should be easily accesable through the zipper opening in the headliner for the sunroof mechanism. Looks like I might have to fabricat a small bracket or mounting block. Shouldn't be too difficult, and it looks like it will be a very tidy installation. |

I am looking at my Performance Parts catalog right now and the rear window spoiler with the integrated brake light is listed for $296.96.
Does Wayne sell this? I may be interested as well.
