Early Bumper Guards

I need to replace some "sub-optimal" bumper guards on my 73. I am not fond of the rubber monstrosities in the first place and would like to use the earlier chrome plus rubber variety. Does anyone know if they have the same mounting points ? What about the dimensions where they meet the rear valance (ie: will I need to paint the valance)?

TIA

Direct retrofit. No problem.

They do have a smaller footprint so if your paint is faded it could be a problem.

My 72' Coupe had 73's on it when I got it and I switched back to chrome. My paint is white however so the fading wasn't an issue.
