Wheel/tire change: worth it?

My car currently has the standard 6 and 7 x 16 Fuchs wheels. For those who have made the change to 7 and 8 x 16, are you happy with the resulting look; is it noticeably better?

I ask because I see the recommended tire sizes for 7" and 8" appear to be the SAME; 225/50 x 16 as I recall, so on first glance I'd think the look would be very similar.

Very tempting to get a couple Euromeister 8x16 wheels as they are very reasonably priced.

Here's a discussion with pictures. I have the 7" 8" setup and think it looks great and proper on a Carrera.

I put a pair of Euromeister 16x9 on my car coupled with real 16x7 up front. I think it looks great, still need to go euro height though. Long term goal is a real pair for the rear, at the price of euromeisters you can afford to experiment.

I see you are in seattle shoot me a pm if you want to see in person.

I have the same wheels 6 and 7 inch on my 87 cab.
With the high cost of 16x8 fuchs, I just added 7/8 inch spacers
on the back for now. Fills out the rear fenders.

7" fronts do a nice job of filling out the front fenders too -- putting tires on these wider wheels also flattens sidewalls

I went 7x16 and 9x16, had to roll the front fenders but love the stance. 245 for the rears are scarce, so I always have a spare set lined up.

The more I want to go back from 17s to 16s the 7x8 or 9s. I guess 7 and 8s are more practical given the tire choices.

yes -- plus, most of the 9s' extra width is on the inside of the wheel, so the 8s fill the rear fenders just about as well as the 9s
