1985 911 - Speedometer sticks at 0 mph at low speeds

My speedometer sticks on 0 mph until I reach 20 mph +/- then it breaks free and works without a problem. I can get it to work at low mph by either a tap on the glass or if I hit a bump on the road. It sticks about 70% of the time. Odometer works fine.

Any thoughts on the problem and solution. Thanks.

Mine did the same thing. Wait until your odometer stops working and then send it out to North Hollywood. In the meantime, just keep flinking the glass to get it unstuck.

mine has been the same for 5 years. i just dink the glass or wait for higher rpm's and it goes where it should go.

+1 send it to NoHoSpeedo ask for Jeffrey.

Have them check the condition of your step motor, this causes odo/trip meter to get stuck.

Also take your smart phone and verify the speed. They can adjust it to match what you need.

I took my Speedo to them for a stuck odo/trip meter and yeap, step was sticky. I waited while they fixed it for me and popped it back in my car, went home.

I also had them increase my speedo 2 MPH to match my on board GPS and phone ap.

Caveat, prices have gone up so make sure you check everything you need :-/

Try this first. I had the exact same problem. I even changed the speedo sensor before I tried this trick.

Yeah, this worked for a couple days. Then back to the same old sticking speedo.

I like the simple solutions I'll try this first - thanks to all for your input.
