Saved a 911 T Targa From a Dead Battery
Yesterday morning in the parking garage of Two Union Square in Seattle, WA I spotted a silver 911 T Targa sitting parked for the day with its lights on. Hmm...I figured it would be an extreme drag for the owner if he was met with no juice upon ignition-time. So, I saw the door was unlocked, I quickly opened it, and turned the lights off.
I did have a wee bit of a quandary, though--was my action OK? Is the owner by chance a lister?

It would have been funny if you had done the owner a favor by turning off the lights only to leave him stranded after locking the car when you were done.
I don't see a problem. Too bad there are no Pelicanhead cards that you could have left behind with a little note.

I've done similar things. It makes you feel like a criminal, but I think you did the right thing.

Not too many folks would object to having their lights turned off!
Pelicanhead cards ... good idea! I guess in an emergency ... the Peilican logo snipped out of one of their printed invoices would do ... you could always use your ID as a signature!

My headlights go off when I turn off the ignition so it would take quite a while to kill the battery with just the side lights. Is this not standard in all 911s?
There's a nice idea - Wayne could make up some Pelican cards for us and include a dozen in each order. I know I'd certainly hand them out to other Porsche owners and interested people I meet.

i believe in karma........someday, you'll leave your car in a bad state (lights on, door open, drop something, etc.), and someone will anonymously take care of it for you.
you'll get in your car and never notice that they did you a favor. |

Nope, you are in the clear. This is a "good" karma thing. Assuming of course you did not take the owners manual for your troubles.

Wayne...
I think the pelican in the pic should be holding one of your books along with the tools, and with a happier expression. Just my $.02 J.R. |
