I thought this thread was a hoot: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/856383-truth-youre-getting-kind-fat.html |
I appreciate the thoughts. I am going to take my son to his basketball game so I'll be out for a bit. I'm going to drive the SC on purpose. :)
I will be back later with pics to help illustrate the situation. If you guys can come up with some option I have not previously considered I will be extremely happy. |
Seems like you have little to worry about.

Are you running out of parking space with a 5th car? What does putting the SC on a lift accomplish? You need to garage the truck? You said you need to move the truck to drive the SC. With a lift you'll need to move the truck AND lower the SC, which is worse than your current situation. |
What does the climate in Ga. do to vehicles left outside? Snow, rain??

Did he really say a Cayman??? Tim:eek: |
Get the 4 post lift
1. You can use it for working on all the cars 2. Buy the extra height lift for $300 more and park the truck under it ( I park a Z71 Tahoe under my tall lift) 3. You can take the lift with you or resell, can't do that with a pad 4. Lots of people will move a lift, check CL. Not hard to do yourself, unless you have Mgmt. Syndrome |

A photo might help... |
Tim, sell the SC and buy an 80s Turbo - you won't make any other "thinking of selling" posts for the foreseeable future (boostpipeidus', you know)! :)

Let's rewind. OP says he might resort to selling his SC.
But, what problem actual does selling the SC actually fix? The only thing I can think of is that OP wants to park his truck in the garage. That is the only thing that changes by selling the SC. |
Sell the truck. Go all in on the SC as a daily driver. If you need the capabilities of a truck, you just need a friend who will let you use his.

Guys, I'm back now. I just walked in the door and catching up on posts. Let me go out and take pics with my phone.
4 cars. 2 car garage. SUV, 911, truck, compact. My insurance policy on the 911 prohibits it from being parked outside. Truck will not fit in the garage. Parking on the street is not allowed by HOA. I do did it from time to time for short periods, but I try to avoid it. Option 2 gets me 3 cars inside and 1 parked outside on the side of the house. I sketched this out the other day. Maybe this helps.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1454184238.jpg |
This is still a shrug to me. Park two cars in the garage, two in the driveway...Optimize parking locations based on the driving habits of the family.
Just doesn't seem worth $10k or selling the SC to avoid having to move someone's car every once in a while. |

Also I would have to change from a collector car policy with an agreed value to a 'regular' policy where they only insure for a book value that is substantially lower than it's worth with prices going the way they are. Does anyone have AV with a non-collector car policy? |

I obviously know little about what's involved in moving a lift. The only way my truck fits in my garage is with no toolbox or workbench at the end of the garage or along the sides, which I can do with the 911. |
