Question about trunk carpet
I'm wrapping up a ground up restoration of a 912E (76 911S with 914 motor)
I've kept to a mostly stock look, but not period correct, have upgraded many parts to later mid year features, so I'm not to worried about concours. I'm to the point of ordering the carpet for the trunk, and not sure what to order. I'd like the carpet to match as close as possible to normal interior carpet. I'm assuming this is the 'plush' sets, but not positive. on what the difference really is. I know I dont want that 'grey thin felt paper' looking stuff. I also plan to put in a trunk mat. I mostly lurk in PP forums, spending most of my time in the 914 world (engine) and 912BBS, but appreciate all the great info and P car community. |
Our sponsor will fit you up with great quality carpet that will fit.
Best, Tom |
You want Perlon. It's gray with a whiteish tinge. Our host sells it. It comes in German or U.S. Made.

My 89 anniversary car came with velour carpet (silk grey) that matched interior. I think that velour became more common in later cars 964, 993. I believe option code was M975

I am redoing a 77 Targa and just sent our friends at Cocoa Mats a template for a one piece carpet for the front boot and they are crafting a custom cut. I wont carpet the sides, rather, I will clean them up for esthetics
Happy to share a photo in about 1 month if anyone is interested bob |
