new for USA Classic Porsche Radio / Navigation

For USA ... THE PORSCHE CLASSIC RADIO NAVIIGATION SYSTEM is now available, according to my PORSCHE dealership. PART # 91164529100. $1108.52 .... I'm sure I would love to have what this can do in my car..... however ... They don't show a picture of it installed in 1965 -1968 type dashes. I guess it would butt up against the ash tray and maybe finish edge at glove box opening..... Anyone have one installed in an early 9/11 or 9/12. I would love to see a picture ......... Currently I have the rustic look and I like it to much to screw it up ..... here is a picture of my dash bob

Found this online. Pic appears to be in an 80s dash though. Map looks horribly small.

About the same size screen as the JVC unit from a few years back. I bought a refurbed JVC on ebay for $250 and tried it in the 1984 Carrera. Due to the position in the dash, the nav screen was pretty much useless. I ended up putting the JVC in my 1999 M3 where the radio sits closer and higher so it is more in drivers line of sight and it works well.

Bob: another option is to mount an amp under the passenger seat (or other out of sight location) and feed the sirus radio/etc. signal to its line level input (same way you'd interface sirus into the new porsche radio) -- I'm currently doing this with a bluetooth adaptor and my iphone -- my radio's out of the loop entirely.

Considering getting one of these PCAR MOUNTSâ„¢ to hold my iphone for display functionality -- would give me a bigger and better positioned screen than the porsche radio offers as well as waze functionality/etc.

+1 on the smartphone approach.
A well integrated smartphone with amp will run circles around that Classic radio

Thats not really the point. I have a very good Pioneer unit in mine currently that has a dedicated iPod, a iPhone connector and HD radio and minimal bling appearance but I want Porsche OEM. Sun coast has them and its more than the OP listed at 1249 dollars but some dealers are charging extra for the USB connector and microphone which is nuts as they remove them from the box...Newport Porsche for instance.

Well ...... kinda hijacking my own thread .... O well .... The new Porsche radio is not likely going to look correct in my 1966.... The 66 has a protruding nose piece that fits snug to the dash cut out.... I stumbled onto an ebay listing for a Vintage Style Stereo AM/FM early 9/11 9/12 radio. Woody Custom Shop is selling for $239.00 No Bluetooth or navigation, however they show a picture in an early dash and it looks ok..... 300 watt.... any opinions/reviews on this?????? bob
