turbo junkies, what turbocharger are you using??

Guys,

I have a 3.0L SC with backdated headers and a custom EFI setup. My next project is to add a turbocharger.

I'd like to know what some of the DIY guys are using for there turbocharger.

Please indicate type (T3/T4, T4, T04B, T04E, KKK, etc), the compressor trim and turbine trim, and A/R for the housings.

Also please indicate at what rpm the boost starts and when you get full boost.

My application is for street use, so I'd prefer quick spool.

Thanks.

Right now mine is the stock 3dlz or k26. My boost starts around 2500 rpm and I get full boost around 3000. I could be off a little because I haven't driven the car for a month due to winter. I plan to build header for it and update the turbo to a K27-7200 this winter.
Have fun

I've asked Protomotive the same question and here is what they use for there stage 1 kit for the 3.2L Carrera:

Turbo: T04B
Compressor trim: 60-1
Turbine trim: "P"
Turbine A/R: 0.58

Boost starts at 1800rpm and full boost (0.5bar) reached at 2800rpm!

Seems like really good response for a turbo.

I've started to look at this myself. I'm thinking of using two t3's. It will probably be a short stroke 3.2L SC with intercooler. Right now the engine is stock, except for SSI's and individual throttle bodies.

I decided to stick with KKK and used a K27-7200 in my blown 3.2. Supposedly good for up to ~475HP and has relatively good spool up :D

U can't go wrong with KKK's, however, I also hear that the Garrett unit is also a very quick spooling unit, if properly matched to the application.

Good luck and may the G's be with you ;)
