Power Hood Latch?
The tubular steel housing for my hood latch release cable broke (at a point where it was previously repaired) and I doubt it can be repaired reliably. I was wondering if the later electronic latches (e.g. part # 986.512.053.01 from a 2000 Boxster) could be used? They appear to have the same shape latch and housing as the 74-89 911? Would obviously need an emergency release, but that could easily be routed to inner fender area.
Alternatively, could I just ditch the steel housing and use a universal cable housing in its place? ![]() |

Uncertifiable!!!

What year is your car? My '78 has the steel tube and my crashed '86 uses a flex tube with solid wire.
