use rubber lube or soad solution or WD-40
etc. and use needle nose pliers to grab and pull -- it's a *****.

Its a PITA! I lubed mine up with soapy water. This helped and combined with needlenose pliers it only took 30 minutes per side

Ditto- soapy water or my favorite, Silicon Spray
Took me a max of 5 min. per side.

I can do this in <2 min.
The procedure is in the factory repair manual. Intuitively, you want to slide in on, but friction will stop you well short. The recommended method is to bend the rubber back almost 180 degrees. This spreads open the rubber as you install it onto the rails of the rocker panel. Spray some silicone on the rubber and rocker, then begin installation from the tail end of the rubber. Well, it was during a blackout, yeah, and I was looking at it through the reflection in mirror, yeah that's it, and I was wearing mittens....

A product called SIL-GLIDE is made just for this. It is referred to in the Bentley manual and you can pick it up at any well stocked auto store. It will make it a simple job.
