Door handle problems

So I was walking back to my little '70 t today (in the cold & the rain). I can't figure out what happened, but I could not unlock the door, no matter how hard I turned the key, though I didn't want to force it.

So I had to walk around to the other side to unlock the door from the inside. I tried going back to the drivers side to open it, but squeezing the lever in did nothing. I could feel it binding on something, like it wanted to unlatch the door, but it didn't happen.

Could someone tell me how to take this thing apart? Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks in advance.

Nick.
I have a 73.5 and a few months ago when I put the key in to unlock the door and it just rotated in the key hole. I was able to open the door from the inside. I had to take my door panel off only to find the locking mechanism a mess. The spring that holds the tumbler unit on came off and consequently the opening mechanism failed. I realize your situation is a little different; however, your going to have to get that panel off to access the rod that opens the door. You might be able to get to it via the window channel. I believe thats where your problem is...the lock mechanism release rod from the external door handle from the internal door handle may be jammed because it takes a few bends along its pathway. The only other thing is that the external handle is not catching the rod like the problem I had.

Good Luck
Bob
