3.2 air box repair and should I clean the AFM?
Started some maintenance work on my recently acquired '85 3.2 and discovered both of the back tabs where the clips connect were broken on the air box. In fact, it looks like more air was bypassing the filter than going through it!
Is there a repair method to fix this or should I just buy a new air box? (No... I don't want a k&N or other mod )The inside of the air box is pretty grungy. I'm thinking I should clean the AFM since it may have gotten dirty. I've seen several threads on this bug it looks like most of them involved opening the AFM. I just want to clean it..not open it up. Are there any threads describing how to remove the air box and performing a non-intrusive cleaning of the AFM? Thank you |

If you can afford it, a new one is $213. Might be worth the peace of mind of not worrying about sucking dirt into the motor every time you drive over some dirt.

The AFM is really easy to remove and clean. Loosen the hose clamps, remove the harness, and uncrew the nut from the mounting stud.
Then just spray it out with some carb or AFM cleaner. Of course, if you think the AFM is dirty inside, just wait till you have the intake manifolds off someday... major yuck.
