Easy Weber Carb Removal Question?

i am planning to remove my carburetors and engine shroud for some clean up. Is it best to remove the carbs and manifolds as an assembly or should I remove the carbs first and then the manifolds? What will I need for gaskets for reinstall?
Second question. Do I need to remove the fan and housing or clean up with it in place?

You can remove them together or separately. The manifold nuts are a bit harder to get to than the carb nuts. You'll need to replace the gaskets. The alternator wires must be removed to take the assembly off. It would be easier to clean in place unless it's really dirty then mark the wires for reinstall.

I would suggest removing the carbs from the manifolds leaving the manifolds on the engine. Tape over or plug the manifolds to keep foreign objects from falling in.

Ditto. One less set of gaskets to replace.

Thanks guys for your replies! Makes sense to leave the manifolds in place. Looking forward to spring clean up!

In order to remove the shroud, you have to take the manifolds off.

So leave the carburetors attached to the manifolds.

Thanks Shane.....you are right! It does NOT make sense to leave the manifolds in place if you are going to remove the shroud! I got to thinking about that without looking at the engine....hehehe...that would be impossible

all in a single unit and DO NOT remove any of the throttle linkage parts that are fastened to the carb bodies. remove the balls that allow the linkage to rotate & fit into the linkage pieces. if you remove the portions of the linkage affixed to the carb adjustment of the synchronization of the throttle will be required.
