MSD part numbers
Hi all. When fitting an MSD, 101 Projects recommends the 6420 model. I have the opportunity of a 6200, is this an inferior model and not suitable for a 1970 911? My car is an everyday road car not a track car. Cheers

MSD Streetfire is a newer unit at a low price that people are having good results with.

6201 and 6425 are the new versions, slightly smaller and with a better cabling system. The 6200/6201 are the "6A" version, the 6420/6425 are the "6AL" vesion. 6200/6201 have no rev limiter. 6240/6425 have a rev limiter. Nice to have that... Streetfire 5520 is smaller and lower powered, but still plenty for any stock aircooled 911. Much smaller than the 6A/AL, rev limiter, solid state electronics (might survive heat and vibration better?) and black instead of red. 6421 is the 6AL with a a dual stage rev limited (launch control), 6530 is the 6AL with programmable advance control. |
great response thank you, might go the Streetfire after all. Same tach adaptor?
