How to? SC with 964 engine, want cruise control....
Starting from scratch. Nothing on the engine, need the bits and pieces and advice. The SC had it with the original 3.0. Guessing there is stuff left over from original equipment that serviced the 3.0. Nothing on the 964 engine or in the bay.

If you still have the SC CC parts in your car including servo canister at engine firewall, servo cable that attaches from the servo to the throttle body lever, CC module in frunk and CC lever on steering column you have the basics. In this thread, I show how I hooked the servo cable to the 964 3.6 in my '80SC
That's all you need to do to adapt to a 3.6 Can cruise control be added to 3.6 conversion?

Here's a list of most of the needed parts from an OLD for sale post.
One other thing I didn't mention is you need to run a small vacuum hose from the engine (manifold vacuum) to the servo. Cruise control parts

Is not the joy of owning a Porsche the driving bit?
I mean having cruise control is akin to having an automatic, why?

Still cruise control is a modern enhancement that belongs on a BMW, not a Porsche. It's a bit like Porsche dropping the manual in almost every car because that's what sells. But I am a purist, I prefer my non-computerized, mechanical steering, mechanical brake 911. Now that is raw driving and is more of a driving machine than BMW or anything comparable will ever be!

I rarely use it (3 years ago) but occassionally take a little 3k mile trip and on a boring hwy at 70 is saves the ankle.

Drive 900 miles in a day. I have done that several times. Cruise Control is a wonderful thing. Even on a short trip of two or three hundred miles it is great. A great trip is get on I-40 heading east to Maryville, TN to the tail of the dragon. Or 900 miles west is Flagstaff, AZ.

I haven't had CC in 12 years. As a matter of fact when I bought my Timmin's conversion I declined the CC bits. Only pansies had CC.
Since my back injury my legs go numb after an hour behind the wheel and having CC would be nice for long trips. I sent him an email and will see if he could give me a deal on the parts and re-install. Otherwise I will have to pony up the $$$. Thanks for the advice and dialogue.

I drive mine a lot....and when I am on a twisty road or flogging it hell yeah, cruise of off. However.....I also take them for multi-hour road trips....on the highway.....as they are wonderful road trip cars. On the freeway, for hours on end though I love the cruise.
Plus it helps me avoid the "sleepy right foot" syndrome we all get........we know we have it when we look down and say "Oh crap, I am doing 85....thought I was doing 55!"

Set your cruise for three under what you know you can get away with and when traffic/visibility permits.... nail it. When traffic closes in or you can't seen around the corner/over the hill, take your foot off the pedal and relax.
