Fog-X it is.... i'm deleting the heating system. If i get cold, I'll add in some heated seats, lol.

Getting heat without heat exchangers and ductwork is impossible. Where will the heated air come from? Magic?
You can have a system that is like this: Ducts from cooling fan shroud to heat exchangers. Ducts from heat exchangers to flapper valves. Ducts from flapper valves to body. Ducts from body to outlets in dash. One or two levers (your choice) to control it. Simple, light weight. The heat exchangers don't weigh much more than the headers you could use in their place and the rest of it weighs about as much as a gallon of gas. I think you are making this harder than you have to. JR |
I guess I'm just looking for simple. I don't need heat, just want defrost. I will see what kind of shape all the parts are in and go from there.
How limited are my exhaust options when using heat exchangers? |
and yes, i know it's not possible to get heat without exchangers, it was a rhetorical question, sorry.

A small 911 six can use all of them. JR |

Unfortunately for you, removing the heat exchangers will remove any possibility of heat to your windshield. And unless you live in the U.S. SOUTHWEST or Africa you will need it to defrost the windshield. Anti-fog sprays just don't work that well either. But the good news is that you already have the lightest heating system made. If I were you, I would put a sport exhaust on it and be happy. |

First you need to do some research to learn how the HVAC system works in your car. Fresh air ventilation is a completely different system than the heating system. Deleting your heat by removing the heat exchangers isn't that great of an idea for a street car in my opinion, for only a small weight advantage. Heat is required to have decent defog. Without heat, your defogging will be very handicapped. However, the fresh air for the cabin will, albeit just using airflow from the outside boosted with the fan, provide a small amount of defogging. Unless it's raining out. Then you're just going to be blowing more moist air on the windshield. |
Anyone have the part numbers needed for this?

we need to talk.....
family commitments this weekend or I'd suggest you drop by. PS. and my friend will be selling that 915 tranny, so another topic I forgot to mention yesterday. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1457191236.jpg |
If you want to retain heat purely for defogging and simultaneously clean up under the hood, you can do this and send heat directly from the rockers to the dash vents. Just remember to block off the fresh-air vent to stop ingress of water. You obviously lose fresh air supply this way.

Guess I'm a pansy. I like to drive the car when it's not perfect out. It gets cold in the car and the windshield needs defrosting. I also think you limit the marketability of the car thereafter, but I'm guessing you're not concerned with such.
I'd like to think I don't need heat and could lighten the car some more, but it sure is nice to have. In my neck of the woods, it's the A/C I/we don't need. |

I think this kind of system might be perfect. air directly from engine to defrost vents, controllable by the lever at the parking brake?
|
Yes. Re-read post 23....

Giddy up, we're in business.

What you don't get is his system is nothing like yours. He doesn't need to lose heat in the cabin with this arrangement. Fresh air, crack a window...
