Hear The Gray Wolf!

I'm sure my bandwidth will be exceeded shortly , but I've added a WAV file of my car to my website. This was recorded with my iPAQ yesterday by just recording inside the car with the window down. It turned out better than I expected. 2.5L 3rd gear acceleration to around 7200RPM, then a shift to 4th, then the recorder ran out of time! I currently have a stock single-out muffler.

Click on 'See The Gray Wolf' below. The WAV file is just below the first photo. -- Curt

sounds awesome

my car is getting painted right now, and I am still batting around engine ideas.

I've wanted to go with a 3.0RS but I think it is kind of a "trick" engine and will take alot of customizing and $$$ to get it going

my other option is a 2.7RS which is little more straight forward...

how do you like your 2.5L??? Do you wish you had more power/displacement...do you have something you can compare it to like an SC or a 2.7L??

Plus I can always go down to a 2.4L 911S which seems to have a nice following as well

I think as I lower the aspirations for the displacement of the engine it gets more and more affordable...which is a good thing

My car is not going to be tracked, but I do want a pretty peppy motor...one that is fun and embodies that EARLY 911 experience more then raw numbers and powers...

thanks

MJ

Dang. I knew that would happen. Free website - I got what I paid for!

MJ - the 2.5 is great. Although if you have an option for a 2.7, that would probably be better yet. The 2.5 does wind up extremely quickly! I don't really have anything objective to compare it to, other than I smoked a 928S4 one time (from a 30 MPH roll to 110MPH+). -- Curt

I guess I'll have to try at around 6:00 AM tomorrow morning (assuming that our friends in Europe and Africa don't blow through your limit before I can get there).

I suspect that what a lot of people are waking up to is the sound of a 911 at 7000 RPM +. Weedy CIS equiped cars can never sound the same.

I can't wait!

This might work. I put the WAV file on its own page:

http://www.angelfire.com/mi4/motorsport/soundpage.html

Now I've got to record a longer, better version! -- Curt

Curt,

Wow! That sounds great. A longer one would be cool. I put it on "repeat" and let it run 4 or 5 times to get the full effect. Now it's stuck in my head like a song! (But a good song)

I don't get it Curt -- don't all 911's sound like that? Especially at the very top of the rev range when the engine takes on almost an F1 type of induction howl. You know, in those last RPM above 6700. I know that mine does!

Listen and weep SCWDPers!

Thanks for sharing!

"Listen and weep SCWDPers!"

Heheheheheheee (or should I say Muhahahahahaaa!)

Next up will be Gray Wolf - The Movie! Actually, I've got a digital video camera that I haven't played around with much yet. The iPAQ is limited to 8 second recordings and I've got to hold the record button in while steering & shifting!! So my next goal is a short in-car MPEG of a 2nd thru 4th gear acceleration run. -- Curt
