72 911 wheel fitment
So I recently purchased my dads 72 911E, the car has been neglected for years and needs a good amount of work. Wheels were definitely not on the top of my list, but I ran into an old customer of mine from my days in the body shop industry and he's got all kinds of bits and pieces I've wanted for years. I'll be asking more questions about some of the other parts he's got once I know his inventory, but he did mention he's still got a set of wheels I tried desperately to buy from him years ago but could never scrounge up the extra money. The wheels in question are a seemingly rare set of ACT/Ronal SX wheels, they're 17 inch wheels, but I cant remember the specs from so long ago, and he doesn't really bother to know things like that. Does anyone have any more information that would be useful on these wheels? Any ideas on fitment with my 72? Also worth mentioning, my car has fiberglass Carrera RS 2.7. Replica fenders and quarters (to my knowledge, they could be wider than RS).

The ronals would be all wrong imho even with the widebody flares. How wide are the ronals? Need more pics of the 72! Looks like you have fuchs on there. Just need spacers or wider wheels.

I admit that the ronals wouldn't be my first choice of wheel for this car, but he's willing to give me a crazy good deal on them and i do like them. I forget the exact widths but I believe they're 17x8 front and 17x9 rear. The pic of the wheels is from 4 years ago which is the last time i saw them. My car does have fuchs on it now and I definitely like them and plan to keep them but I'd like to run something a little different from the norm. I don't have many other pics of my car right now since my last SD card took a crap and half my pics were lost permanantly... Its rough.. Two winters ago it was being stored in a heavy duty tent garage and it collapsed after a heavy snow, later the same night a tree fell on the tent garage but missed the 911 and the 914, unfortunately though the 911 took a little extra damage when that happened. Small roof repair is needed, the back window is broken out, the car has a 75 only 930 turbo style tail on it and its pretty damaged. On top of that most of the interior in the back got wet because it took so long to get the tree off the garage so that needs to be addressed and then there's some rust repairs that need to be done. Like I said, the car has been neglected the last few years but I'll have it back to 100% as soon as i can.

![]() As was asked, here is a better pic of the car. This is from before it was damaged over the winter. I do like the fuch wheels obviously, but I'd like to do something a bit different. I don't want it to look exactly like every other long hood you see around. I want it to be tasteful but different. |
