Rubbers taillights

Hi,

I'm redoing the rubbers of the taillights at the moment.

Are these glued to the housing? I tought these were just pulled over and stay on place. But when I remove the old ones they seemed like they glued them before.

How do you do it?

What's the best way to clean everything in the lights and when you remove the housing?
Just with some water, or do you blow with compressed air.
now i've brushed the most dirt away.

I did the new rubbers this afternoon.

Everything went very smooth until I put the glas back on.

They now seem to come out of the body

I never had a look at this before, but i don't think it was normal.

Also the point of the glas is sticking out much more, but this is probably due to a crack at the last bolt. I'm going to buy new glas anyways.

Have I put the new rubber correctly, or what can be the problem?

I should have taken pictures when I did this to my car, but they do need to be glued for proper fit.

I'm in the middle of doing this project. Mine also appear to have been glued previously.

I used meguires paste wax which contains a bit of an abrasive - to shine up the interior of the housing. I scraped off the old glue using a razor blade.

Looks like you have them on the correct orientation, but one thing is to make sure you have it on the correct side. The thicker side goes out to create the seal.

I also noticed that if you press very firmly on the seal right on the housing contact area and wiggle a bit, the gasket appears to seal down and grip. I reassembled one side with no glue atm just to see fit and it fits very nicely. I was going to omit glue as the seal and fit appeared good after I worked it on but I'll probably get this 3m weatherstrip adhesive - unless someone has a recommendation

Also just buy new lenses. It's well worth it!
