Body work question

'86 Carerra Coupé
I'm wondering from the p-car experts before talking to any normal body shop which will automatically quote the works for the $$$ in labor. What would be the best way to fix this? Is easy enough to cut out and weld a new solid piece in place?

This is the side wall on the drivers side where the battery sits.

Any advice for the best way to fix is appreciated.

Only way to fix would be to cut out all rust and replace with new metal.

If you want to preserve the value of this car, make sure you deal with a shop who knows how these cars go together.

A good welder can fix that so that it is good and solid but if not done "correctly" will chase any future buyers away pretty easily.

Don't let a body shop learn on your car. It will be more expensive than going to someone who has done it a dozen times.
