Vent control question

Several questions about the lighting of the vent control group on the dash.

1. How many lights go into the back of the control group?

2. What is the normal operation for the lighting of the control group? When you turn the headlights on does any of it light up? The way mine currently works is it lights up when the fan is turned on.

I'm hoping someone chimes in on this as well. I have an 87 911 and I think the light for the fan symbol is burnt out but not sure. I've also wondered about the console that has the AC controls. Never has lit up.
