carrera 3 drivers door

Hi,

I have a 1976 Carrera 3 targa super-sport and the drivers door is stuck!

Sadly I haven't driven it for a while and when i went to open the drivers door the leaver went in, but it didn't open (the catch inside didn't release). I think it is all gummed up.

any ideas how to get the door open ?

thanks

graham

Graham,

Can you not get in through the passenger door and then just pull the lever on the drivers door?

If you have already tried that and it is the inside pull lever that is not doing anything, the pull lever is attached to the rod that actuates the door latch via a z shaped rod (29) that goes into a triangular pivot plate (28) that the rod (25) is fixed to. This z shaped rod fits into a pair of plastic plugs one each end of the z rod.

I am assuming you are talking about the outside door handle push button not releasing the catch?

Once you get the door open you will have to remove the door pocket, door card, then the pull handle to get to the back of the outside handle.

Cheers
Bill

Its a 3 litre 200BHP Carrera made only in 1976-1977 in relatively small numbers.
I don't think they were supplied new to the USA market!

Yeah...The C3 is a very rare 911 here in the states. They command a pretty good premium. Here is one going on the auction block. By the way a very good looking example you have.

thanks folks will have a go at the weekend.

Also with my Carrera 3 it is a RHD targa top and had factory fitted cruise control (I checked with Porsche), I know it is one of 479, but with the cruise control, who knows :-)

It's actually called a Carrera 3.0.

Despite the shortened names herein.
