His reputation for quality work is undiminished but, I understand, very long wait times are the norm.
I've had super good luck with Alex Magro in Tampa: sales@magrowheels.com, 813-431-7542. Tom |

Al Reed is the man for the job.

Think Harvey. The only problem is he's usually backed up. It takes a while for Harvey to get to your wheels.

I used Harvey several years ago and the wheels look perfect. I shipped my wheels from OH to CA. I used him because of his fantastic reputation, and I knew he would anodize the wheels (many places don't) and paint the centers using the correct paint (refinished wheels often have black paint that is too glossy). It was important to me that the wheels looked factory correct, and I wasn't confident that others could to it.

Always a wait for Harvey and Al. At least Al will give you loaners if you are local. Otherwise most shops can do what you need faster unless you need exacting oem specs. YMMV

Tough to beat Herr Wiedman. August 2015 Panorama has a great article titled "Wheels Are Turning," including a sidebar with Harvey and Al. Definitely worth the read.
Early Fuchs. Those are gonna take a while. Hopefully you have a spare set if you want to go with Harvey. I'd suggest dropping them off if you're anywhere near Oroville. A walk through the shop is crazy good for the Porschephille's soul... https://amoroso.smugmug.com/1988-Porsche-911-M491-M470-Poi/Weidmans-Wheels-2015 It kinda depends on what matters to you and A) if you need a name brand refinisher and B) if so, which name you need. I will say that documented name brand work would add to resale. There's nothing like a flawless set though, eh? This past Jan 2nd, Happy New Year to me... ![]() ![]() |

Harvey has had my deep sixes since November of 2014 and I hope to have them back in the next couple of months. In my case, time is not critical as the car is still undergoing restoration and I have let Harvey know that. I figured getting the wheels back sooner just meant they were sitting around waiting for the car to catch up to them. I know when I get them they will be perfect. And, yes, I dropped them off personally on a Saturday morning and toured his shop. Absolutely amazing number of Porsche wheels.

I also can vouch for Harvey. He restored my 14x5.5, fantastic, top notch work.
It does take time but he was helpful. I would not hesitate to let him work on my other restoration work.

[QUOTE=FastCarFan;9038223]Great link! Thanks! It's interesting to see Harvey's shop. Looking at the photos I was reminded of something - properly refinished Fuchs wheels have unpainted lug-nut holes. Many other refinishers don't go to the trouble to leave them unpainted. Many also can't re-anodize the wheels.[/QUOTE
This is a good point. Paint on the lug nut holes would technically skew the lug nut torque setting. If you want to get that technical. (Many of us do)😀 But a reason that makes more practical sense is on wheels where the lug nut holes are painted the lug nut will chip the paint when torqued. This will leave a damaged paint edge that will peel and chip further sooner than later. |

Just had a set of wheels done by Al Reed and his wife and they are perfect. He is delightful to deal with. Would highly recommend him, and his turn around time is fantastic.
