Front A-arm tow bracket replacement Carrera
Good afternoon,
I've purchased a new set of the front A-arm "tow hook" brackets for my 1988 car. As this will require removal of the front condenser protection bar and the front A-arm bracket bolts to install, I purchased a set of threaded studs to hopefully prevent significant lateral movement of the A-arm when the bolts are removed. However in searching the archives supporting the front of the car on the jacking brackets was recommended but I could not find a definitive answer whether this will affect the alignment? For clarity, I've attached images of the brackets with "retaining plate for A-arm" is printed on the labels (right #911-341-038-02-OEM and left #911-341-037-02-OEM listed as 74-89 911/911 turbo for reference): ![]() ![]() And anything ele I should be aware of in advance? Thanks for your experience! |

I rebuilt my A arms a few months ago and removed the covers a few times for different things with the A arms in place and under load and without load. No issues.
The rubber bushings are set up pre loaded so you might get a bit of movement but tightening to proper torque sets everything up properly. You do not have to remove the front bar...there is enough movement to work the covers into place with the bolts removed. Never an issue with my alignment after removing/replacing.
