Question on gas gauge

Recently my gas gauge only go down around 2/3 of it. 1/3 third left, it won't move. The light indicator is working properly.

Do you suspect it's the sender in the tank, or the gauge? Are the needle and the indicator light getting signal from the same source (the sender)?

These might get you started

Gas gauge doesn't go below 1/2. Fuel sender does not appear stuck.

Fuel Sender is fine. Open fuel gauge itself?

Thumbs are sore as hell. Can't remove fuel gas gauge. Any tips or tricks?

If the needle stops moving but the warning light still comes on, that tells you the float is still moving inside the sender. Most likely is the gauge wiring. Clean up the spade connectors and make sure they are tight. If that doesn't improve things, you may have an issue with the internal connections of the gauge. Not difficult to check if you do.

The sender can also be at fault, but your symptoms don't point in that direction. You can still remove the sender, disassemble it and carefully clean the wires.
