advice needed: rod knock and poor leakdown in one cylinder on twin plug 3.2?
Advice needed.
I brought my car in for an valve adjustment since I thought it was a starting to get noisy They with the valves adjusted they put it back together and it still knocked. They are tracking it down to rod bearing? No ideal if it’s big end or small end. Motor only has about 70k miles with twin plug head. What would I need to do to address this? They said all the other cylinders were really good at 2-3% percent leak down but #6 was low at 19%. Broken rings?, cracked piston? No real sign of excessive blow by I have notice. They also didn’t think it was a broken head stud since the car dosent leak any oil. Wondering what to do now? Rebore all cylinders with larger 98mm pistons? rod or rod bearings? Mic the crank at the offending big end? Very much obliged if you can share your opinion here Regards PF |

You disassemble until you find the problem, basically, and take it from there. Maybe a second opinion, since they're not sure of anything.

or leave it alone until it grenades - then you know it needs attention. Seriously, find the issue before a rod finds its way through the case!
