High Oil Pressure

Last week the oil pressure gauge was just above the red for the whole drive. I checked the oil the next morning and nothing registered on the stick. I added 2 quarts and then it was way up the stick and the oil pressure went to the top. I had the oil drained and added back to "full" per the oil stick. The gauge still reads all the way to the top. When I start the car, the gauge acts normal, then after 5 mins or so, it goes to the top and stays there. Suggestions?
