Somebody better break out the calculator for an Australian/U.S. $$ conversion.

Otherwise, I will painfully let my cab go for say............$50K!

Yeah, we Aussies pay dearly for the Porsche ownership privilege - in any year model.
That's roughly $28K USD or there about's.
Still, way over what you blokes would lay down for the equivalent over there, but right on the money here for a good one.

Problem is that you guys drive on the wrong side of the road! Our caring legislators would never let us have the choice (like in the UK or NZ) to operate the vehicle from the left or right hand side of the vehicle. We could hurt ourselves

No LHD imports into Aussie?!? Maybe you could claim that a 911 is, in fact, a front-engined car. The driver's seat is obviously on the right of a US car in that case

No, doesn't quite work that way, Stone.
Note "Australian Delivery" That's where it's value is to us.
We can get Californian imports for a lot less.
There's a mob here that carts 'em over and specialises in the LH to RH swap over. These are pretty good value, but we seem to go for the "Aussie Delivery" as a priority.
Finding one that's never been in the wet - in Melbourne? Wow, now that's a rarity!

Pity you weren't a Pelican a few months back, James. You could have attended our drive-days.

Good luck selling the Coupe. I don't know if you'll get $58k for it, but let us know how you go.

58K, convert that to kiwi dollars, something like 80k kiwi. Wow your cars are expensive.

The same car over here in good condition only costs 40k kiwi, maybe the Aussies should start shopping over here.

Bill-
what do you think the NZ market is like for, say, a clean LHD '82 SC sunroof coupe w/ original paint? 195 000 miles w/ top-end rebuild & clutch 30 000 miles ago.

I'm asking because one of these days I'll make my way back to Welly &, though I wouldn't bring the car back w/ the intention to sell it (will hopefully hold on to it for quite awhile) it'd be good to know that the shipping effort is worthwhile...

cheers,
Andrew

Data point only:

I got AU$59K for my 88 about in April of this year. Perfect cond, full leather, all options, bilstein sport shocks, G50 gbox, recent top end (ie. valve guides etc). (Also had correct Fuchs)

I thought this was a good price - early C2's can be found for high
50's in NSW (84's can be had for mid 40's in NSW)

ps: Took a long time to sell.

If you will notice at the bottom of my post I have listed my true pride and joy, my 1976 multi colored 15hp hybrid MTD Mower(with aftermarket cupholder with Porsche crest). I'll let you take it off my hands for a small sum....................................... say.. $10,000. You wont find another like it... I'll post pics if you are interested.

Hi Andrew. I would guess NZD$26 to NZD$30. Cam may be a better opinon as his, well his car that goes, is a LHD. The fact that you have owned the same car for a reasonable period of time overseas means you pay less duty - maybe none, then pay 12.5 GST on the car and the shipping. Bill.
