Upgraded Parts
Guys when expensive Porsche parts give up, what about replacing them with reliable NAPA parts? For example, the PO of my car replaced the ignition switch and tumblers, at a cost of around $500. GM Switches are available at far less cost, and are known to be fairly reliable. We have some trusted brands here such as Borg Warner, etc. that might fit our cars. That way, replacement is less expensive and parts are easier to get (Napa stores everywhere). AC Delco alternators are everywhere, and cheap. My Paris-Rhone unit is not cheap and parts store attendants have generally never heard of such a thing.
Whaddya think?

As far as NAPA goes I wouldn't trust any of their parts. I replaced the CV joints and shafts on a Volkswagen GTI once with NAPA equivalents to save a bit of money. The vibration I was left with was similar to driving over a "washboarded" gravel road. Nearly shook out my teeth! Never again will I buy NAPA parts especially for my Porsche.
Also, when I was car searching I flew to Cleveland to look at an SC. The alternator and a few other electrical parts had been replaced with AC-Delco equivalents. It apparently worked but was not for me. Just seems wrong.

I hear you can get absoulutely everything for you engine at Napa. That's if you put in a v-8. Silverc4s is right why don't you just get a corvette or better yet a chevette, but then again I don't think Napa carries parts for that rare sports car anymore.
