More serial numbers
man i have searched all over this bbs, can anyone help with this number wpozzz96zps410278 does germany have car fax, Kevin
|
That VIN just doesn't look right to me. Can you double check it?
|
The VIN is for a Euro model something. The "ZZZ" is a Euro "filler" character I understand (ie. it doesn't mean anything-it is only present to get to the 17# total).
|
Should be a 1993 964 Carrera. The "1" should mean a Targa.

Both my 911s have VINs that begin WPOZZZ...
I think it's a Euro/Australia/Pacific Region designation. |
GeorgeK, I believe a 93 RoW targa would have the following VIN:
WPOZZZ96xPS43xxxx. |
Jim,
Right on. I lost my standards in about 1983...:D WPO: West germany, POrsche ZZZ: digits for US/Japan markets 96: first two digits of car type (964) Z: filler P: Year of manufacture, 93 S: plant of build, Stuttgart 4: last digit of car type 1: body type (I'm lost here...) XXXX: car sequential number. GeorgeK |
Actually, ZZZ is for non-US/Canada (i.e. the RoW) market. Body type 1 signifies a RS America; however, the RS America sequence # ranges from 9001 - 9450. So this is all wacky...a RoW VIN with RSA body type but not an RSA sequence number. I'd suggest that Kevin should recheck the VIN because what's shown in his post doesn't fit anything that I can make sense of.

Kevin, we had fun scratching our heads on this. So, you've got a 93 RoW 964 coupe there, per harald's VIN decoding.
|
Yea Harald made a typo when he sent them to me, no big deal was just wondering what the motor was in before, But it did add a little to a boring winter, ha ha, i am excited about getting the motor in untill i look out side and see snow and realize that it will be march when i can drive it, I hope the motor come in this week, Kevin
