Anyone used VCI brake upgrade kits?

Their turbo and big brake kits look awesome...pricey, but having spoken to a representative, i like what i am hearing.

Any experiences out there? Any advice?

I used them for my 930 brake upgrade. Nice parts, good service, however, I did not like the Coleman rotors. One track day and they were shot. I went to 930 floating rotors and never looked back.

Crazy prices. You know you can call Race Technologies and buy a big brake kit (Brembo) for around $4000.00 front and rear?

Am I doing something wrong here, but looking at their prices on VCI site.... Big Reds $6300.00, 930 kits $6500.00

Crazy money there.

Talk to AP racing, Brembo...etc.

If you are looking into individual parts, my bad...

Go with VCI - Doug is the man.

Also used them for my 930 brake upgrade on my '86 Carrera. I supplied the calipers, he did the work and supplied the rotors and hardware.
Completely satisfied.
My Coleman non-floating rotors lasted 2 full track seasons.

VCI makes good stuff. For instance their caliper adapters and rotor hats are anodized to resist galvanic corrosion that occurs when you put aluminum next to iron or steel.

Their 930 brake kit is so expensive because new 930 calipers are extremely expensive. The days of buying "cheap" 930 calipers seem to have ended. Even wholesale/discounted dealer price on a 930 front caliper is now just under $1000. So there's $4000 alone in new calipers! If you can find a set of 930 calipers used & cheap, by all means snatch them up and send them to VCI. Doug won't be offended. They also do a fantastic job adapting the 930 rear caliper to the 911 trailing arm.

Check out Rebel Racing's site for those trying to find a rotor alternative. Clint has a nice solution for 930-like front rotors that are bolted or floating.

I've used the VCI C2/C4/944T brake setup on a few 911s for a number of years and it works great. The calipers are very plentiful used (can get a decent set of them off eBay all day long for $200/pair) and the rotors are original Porsche brand Zimmerman high quality rotors. I will admit VCI's prices on rotors are a bit steep. So you could source the rotors here at Pelican for a cost savings of ~$300

I worked with Doug on my car (993 Turbo setup). His prices are what they are because 1) Porsche prices have gone up on new Calipers, 2) His kits are quality. Caliper brackets are as good I've ever seen (aftermarket Brembo/AP included). You can keep the cost down by sourcing your own calipers. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't hesitate working with Doug/VCI on my brakes.

Vci

Thanks all.

I have no problem paying premium for quality.
For my 911 - I'd rather spend once, and not have to worry about it again....brakes, suspension - its what sets the car apart from "ordinary" ones...

Not sure of current pricing, but he's got a ton of experience(knowledge), and has been around more than 25 years.

Very knowledgeable about suspensions also.

I bought rotors when I upgraded the brakes on my old SC. The rotors held up for 4 years of street/track until I sold the car.
