Cruise Control Clutch Switch revisited
1985 811 Targa ... Life's too short not to drive a convertible!
I'm trying to get the cruise control working again. Stopped all at once. Was working fine, then nada. Looking towards the clutch cutout switch as the culprit, but I am unsure as to where it is located. Is it in the tunnel just in front of the console? I just looked from the pax side into that hole there and saw where the clutch linkage, but saw no switch. Can someone give me a better idea of where to look? Thanks! Brian |
when the clutch pedal is depressed, an arm in the tunnel pulls the clutch cable forward. the micro-switch lever contacts the rear of the arm in the tunnel, and follows it's movement. remove the wood floorboard below the pedals for a better look.

Interesting.... I replaced the bushes in my pedal assembly the other weekend and since then I have no cruise control. John walkers reply seems to give a real clue! Thanks for that. Hey Wayne; why didn't you mention it in the book?

Success!!!!
I chose the simple, though not elegant, repair - I slipped a 4cm long piece of fuel hose over the arm of the switch, which in affect adjusted the angle of the switch, which I had no idea how to get to. It worked like a champ!:D
Thanks to all who provided information! Brian |
