Fender Panel Gap Help

I'm currently working on fitting a pair of Dansk fenders to my '77 but struggling to get the panel gaps perfect. There is some adjustment in the fenders, but after several hours this is the closest I can get.

Is there something I'm missing? Is the next step adding or removing metal? Thanks!

I'm no autobody guy & have only been involved in fender/door placement once a long time ago. The first thing that came to mind was shimming of some places where the fenders meet the body and maybe trying shims in the door hinges.

the factory made the gap by adding filler to the door... where your gap is tight.... examine weather or not there is factory led on the door that can be removed..... that's how it done...... adjust as best you can ... then use filler to make the gap.... bob

I thought these photos looked familiar - seen them on the Car Lounge! Been following your 'Buh buh buh Benny and the jets' thread there for a while. Wish I could help - judging from your work so far, you'll figure something out!

Try searching or posting this on the Paint and Bodywork Forum. Very knowledgeable guys there like 962porsche.

Start with this-posted by 962porsche

Porsche makes the door gap to the QTR panels (fenders are only on the front ) bigger on top then on the bottom edge of the door to the QTR this is done for a reason ! so if your finding the gap is bigger on the top it's how it should be and don't screw around with it .
if you do people will think your car is bent of been repaired wrong .
the gap to the bottom of the door to the rocker panel should be about 4MM and the same from the front edge of the door to the fenders . the bottom of the door to QTR should start out at about 4MM and open to about 6mm .
more Porsche have been ruined by people making the gaps at the door to QTR even from top to bottom . any one that knows Porsches knows how the gap should be and know why they are made that way .
also bondo is a brand name and not the name of filler . the name of the product is called plastic body filler
