fuel sender parts in tank

I replaced my fuel sender. The new sender had a plastic "cap" covering the bottom. However, the old sender I removed doesn't have the piece (see pic below). I'd assume that it fell off at some point and was left in the gas tank.

Should I be concerned about this? Any way this piece could clog the works up or cause other problems?

Thanks,
Skip

Garage
The plastic spacer prevents the sender tube from direct metal-to metal contact with the gas tank and prevents that the gap between tube and tank bottom gets so narrow that the tube might accidentally get sealed of. However a missing spacer should in general not create problems. The loose part should also not create any problems regarding the fuel filter or fuel supply. It's too big to get sucked in or block anything.

It appears that my fuel sender unit too came apart in the tank (the other day as that is when my fuel gauge went to zero). So there is an end-cap, nut, and washer floating around there.

Today all of the sudden I'm getting an obnoxious buzzing sound from the fuel pump. I see the OP has an earlier year model (mine is an '84). Are there fuel tank differences between the two model years whereby I need to be concerned of potential pick-up restriction due to the parts floating around?

My tank had this too. While it was out i fished all the pieces of the sender with a telescoping magnet and some luck
