Best tool for removing turbo tie rod ends from strut...?

Just had my struts redone and need to remove to get the spindles raised ;-(

Have fresh paint and new turbo tie rods and don't want to damage with a BFH etc.

Anyone have a link to a tool that they know works for sure on turbo tie rod ends?

Thanks-

Sometimes you can put the nut back on and beat on it.
That way you don't damage the threads.
Make sure to hit square.

Why not just go to the auto parts store and get a tie rod end removal tool through the loan a tool program?

IME (on other cars, not the 911) hitting the tie rod end (or spindle) laterally was most effective in breaking the taper loose. Usually I'd leave the nut on and once the taper fit was broken hit upwards using the nut, then take the nut off and finish it.

You will be refinishing anyway after spindle raise (requires grind and weld) so grab the BFH it won't matter.

BTW I have managed to pop these off using a hammer without noticeably damaging finish. Just hit it square and don't drag it across surface.

I am not in favor of whacking suspension pieces with a hammer. I'd use a ball joint tool such as Matador Tools Catalog Page

If you use the ball joint tool, make sure to leave the nut on! I once used the tool and applied pressure and set it down. After a minute or two the tie rod end flew across the room, just above my head. Lesson learned!

Rent this tool. It's free and works just fine. I used it this past winter.

Harbor Freight has the same tool. Any auto part store or Sears does too.

Pelican sells this one, which I have, but the ball end tends to roll off the tie rod shaft sideways. It needs a cup on the end so it stays on the shaft.

Yeah I was looking for the one that has a cup on the end so it does not slide -
