Chrome trim 1970 / 74+ parts

Gents,
My RS clone has newer rockers from the 74+ with rear quarters.
Can I install the 73 S chrome rockers over the metal if I remove the long rubber strip or is the metal completely different to mount the chrome covers in the photos?
Scott

Porsche Crest

I think it is completely different with a raised "Tee" support boss for the rubber that runs the length of the rocker as well as different style end caps. Check PET for details before you pull the rubbers.
If it is easily removed for conversion (I seem to recall sheet metal screws holding it on) you may get lucky. As well, the new rocker deco might not match the (front of the rear) fender flare profile from the later car I believe, if it is even close you will have some massaging to do. Compare the length first of the existing rocker and the new deco to see if you are in the ballpark. Bending that new deco to try and match a flare from a later car is graduate level stuff and you will more than likely pooch it as it has a curved profile. I would think, look for an old one to try your skill first, cut up an old one into a couple of pieces and get to it, also, you may need to anneal the metal (soften) before you are able to work it...good luck!
Cheers, Barrie
