steering wheels

Does anyone know if Formel is the only manufacturer of the 930S steering wheels? I bought one of them (prior to when Wayne started to sell them, so not from Pelican) and I was less than impressed with the quality of the leather. I was wondering if the model/brand that I bought was the only one on the market. I'd like to have a wheel that is a little thicker and a little smaller in diameter than the stocker from my '88. However, I'd also like to find one with leather quality that comes close to that of the stock. I chose the 930S wheel because it does not look out of place in the car and it's one of the few wheels that does not have a miniscule horn button. Are there any nice fat wheels that look like they belong in a 15 year old 911? I'd be happy to pay a little more for quality. Even moreif I could properly match the midnight blue interior.

Thanks,
Lew

Lew,
My 87 has a dark blue interior. Here's a pix of my wheel. The wheel is the 993 Euro RS / GT2 wheel.

Oops, forgot the picture.

see below.

Don:

Thanks for the photo. I actually ordered a 993 RS wheel based on a photo of your car. I am not sure if there are different makers of that wheel, but I thought that the leather on the one I got was not very good quality. In fact, I am not sure that it's really leather. I paid $329 from Crescent City. This is by no means a knock on Crescent City, I was very pleased with their service, but the wheel itself is no where near the quality of the stock 4 spoke wheel.

Hey, the quality of workmanship of a few decades ago? Compared to the "make a buck" philosophy of today? What can I say? If I can post it, note the stitching & leather quality of this 3 decades old steering wheel...then think of the old wood Nardi wheels.

Lew,
I believe Momo is the manufacturer of the wheel I have. When I had the wheel off, I seem to remember Momo somewhere on the wheel.

Hey Don, that wheel is beautiful, I think I'm gonna get me one. Do you know of Pelican sells it? Is it the same diameter and thickness as the original wheel? I would love it to be slightly thicker and a touch smaller in diameter.
Thanks

Lew, Can you post a picture of the 993RS wheel you purchased? I'd be interested to see if looks any different than mine.

Mike, thanks for the compliment on the wheel. It is a little smaller and thicker than the factory wheel. Don't know by how much but it has a good feel. I don't think PP sells the wheel. Mine came from By Design but I don't think they sell them any longer. Crescent City is the only place I've seen advertising the wheel. Though it sounds like Lew is not happy with it so I don't know if they are selling the same wheel that I have.

Don:
My car is at Steve Timmins place receiving a sorely desired hp injection. I will ask Steve to post a picture when he has some time. It's a Momo and the quality of the assembly and stitching is first rate, it's only the leather that doesn't seem so great. Then again, I am comparing it to the leather on the stock wheel which is 3X as expensive, so maybe I am expecting too much. The leather and the stitching on the stocker is much thicker. The wheel diameter is smaller than a stocker and the rim is a little thicker, though not quire as thick as the 930S wheel.
